Historically, the restaurant industry has been the single largest source of sexual harassment claims according to the EEOC. In 2020, harassment and discrimination settlements and open EEOC suits dramatically increased and were publicized in the media. Studies has shown that service employees face harassment on a daily basis from customers and with the demographics and diversity of the restaurant workforce, the number of settlements are predicted to rise. The burden of reporting, investigating, and resolution has fallen on the shoulders of HR and Compensation leaders and makes the hair on our necks stand up.

In this learning session, Trey Darby and Amy Bodkin (Human Capital Practice Leader) from Lockton will chat about:

    • Risk factors for harassment and EEOC guidelines • Harassment and discrimination trends and employee reporting options

    • Employers’ “Affirmative Defense” – especially critical learning for HR and Compensation leaders

    • Solution to manage reporting, investigation, and resolution of workplace harassment and discrimination incidents
